Lake Placid was an entirely different race experience than Ironman Texas. I arrived at Albany airport on Wednesday prior to the race; it was a gorgeous 2hr 15min drive up to Lake Placid. My initial race stressor was not having cell service for the first 24 hours of my trip. This completely stressed me out, not being able to call Jarrod, use maps to navigate a new town, etc. To make matters a little more challenging, my rental apartment also had no wireless internet. I settled into my rental apartment, ate food, built my bike and went to sleep hoping that maybe my phone would work tomorrow. As I fell asleep I imagined I was a little girl again, camping out at Guelph Lake with my family the night before a race. I had no cell phone them, no laptop or wireless connection; I was going to be fine.
